Synopsis: Testimonies, fiction, and archival footage intertwine to explore the journey of a generation of LGBTIQ+ individuals searching for their place in the hostile Lima of the 1980s and 1990s. In a context marked by the emergence of HIV, sociopolitical unrest, and the “social cleansing” agenda of terrorism, this documentary rewrites collective memory, highlighting the resilience and lived experiences of a generation before it vanishes. Testimonios, ficción y material de archivo se entrelazan para explorar el recorrido de una generación de personas LGBTIQ+ en busca de su lugar en la hostil Lima de los años 80 y 90. En un contexto marcado por la aparición del VIH, la agitación sociopolítica y la agenda de “limpieza social” del terrorismo, este documental reescribe la  memoria colectiva, destacando la resiliencia y las experiencias de una generación antes de que desaparezca.

Biofilmographies

Director, producer, photographer, and LGBTIQ+ activist. His work explores themes of identity and sexuality through a critical lens on the social context.

Since 2022, he has been teaching documentary project development at the university level. He has participated as a photographer in exhibitions in Lima, São Paulo, Spain, and the Malmö Biennale in Sweden. In 2017, he published Coto de Caza, his first photobook. As a director, he has made the short films Juan Alberto (2018) and Chica (2023), both awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Peru and screened at national and international festivals. He is currently developing his first feature-length documentary, La Lima que se va, through his production company JYS Estudio Creativo.

Producer focused on cultural content, with experience in film and television.

He began as second assistant director on Amigos en Apuros (2018), and between 2019 and 2023, he worked on the production of television programs such as Auténticas, ¿Cómo Somos los Peruanos?, and Teatro en Grande, the latter nominated for the Luces Awards. In 2023, he returned to film as head of production on La Sociedad Prometida (2025) by Paola Molina and Chica (2023) by Juan Yactayo, both projects awarded funds by the Ministry of Culture of Peru. He is currently developing film projects and works as a university lecturer.
